FRANK Edwards braved the conditions at Grebe Pool and saw off the competition as he won the fifth winter league contest.
An increasingly strong cold wind made fishing conditions difficult and Malvern Anglers struggled for bites throughout the match.
But Edwards, in the favoured point-end peg, stuck with his legered coloured pellet method to attract four carp towards the end on the match for a winning weight of 16-8-0.
In the next peg, Mike Perks was first to catch with a carp of about six pounds on swim fed maggots.
But he then had a long wait for another smaller carp to finish second with 9-15-0.
Steve Warren managed to tempt a single carp for a third place weight of 5-8-0 ahead of Chris Loveridge who claimed a couple of bream for a fourth place weight of 4-4-0.
Results: 1 Frank Edwards 16-8-0, 2 Mike Perks 9-15-0, 3. Steve Warren 5-8-0, 4 Chris Loveridge 4-4-0, 5 Graham Rees 3-8-0, 6 John Shaw 3-1-0, 7 Ian Goddard 2-2-0.
