DIVISION Three's John Monk carded the best round of the day in The Worcestershire Golf Club’s rescheduled Christmas goose stableford.

Tough post-snow conditions allowed the 22-handicapper to take the honours with 34 points.

Close on his heels were William Brimmell (handicap 22) and Peter Kirton (23) who were both on 33.

Neil Bogart (12) took Division One with 32 ahead of Andy Davis (11) and David Horn (11) on 30.

Andrew Whitely (16) led Division Two with 32 ahead of Peter Hill (13) on 31 and Ian Brazier (17) on 29.

Only 12 pairs managed to complete the course in the last of the mixed golf competitions of the calendar year.

Playing a foursomes format in miserably cold, wet and raw conditions, the stalwart pairing of Joyce Duncan and Alan Smith returned with a creditable 30 stableford points.

Two other experienced pairs took the minor placings with Liz Pool and Peter Hill recording 27 and Diane and Paul Meakin 25.

After three rounds, leading the Winter Tankards rankings for the best individual performances are Pool for the ladies and Smith for the men.

With two events to go, their nearest rivals are Diane Meakin and Hill respectively.
