ALL but two competitors failed to catch in icy conditions for Malvern Anglers' annual fur and feather match at Broadheath Fisheries.
After cold weather and snowfall the previous week, a good turnout hoped for better.
Although there had been some thawing, an overnight frost re-established a film of ice on much of the Island pool but anglers broke through.
However, it was soon evident the fish had been put off by the conditions.
Nearby members were surprised to see club secretary Mick Perks get a 2lb 4oz 0dr chub within a few minutes using swim feeder and maggots presented just off the edge of the ice to win the match.
Chris Loveridge tempted a 1-14 bream using float-fished worm for second, leaving the rest to draw for the subsequent places.
During the prize presentation, match secretary Richard Webster thanked competitors for their support during the year and looked forward to the 2018 programme at a variety of venues.
