SIX new recruits joined Malvern Joggers at the second Herefordshire Cross Country League race at Croft Castle.

The men had to contend with a tough seven-mile run in muddy conditions with over 1,300 feet of climbs while the women had a similar race on a shorter course.

Ahcene Bengriche, competing after a half-marathon the previous day, was first Jogger back in 56 minutes 34 seconds in 25th place followed by Nic Dauncey in 57.35 and first-timer Simon Richardson in 68.02.

Roger Sherriff clocked 72.40, Andrew Brown 72.59, Paul Newman 74.02, Ian Fuller 74.39, James Dance 75.45, Ian Walwyn 76.27 and Warwick Taylor 80.18.

For the women, in 10th place was Natalie Bennett in 37.48 followed by new recruits Martha Worthington in 30th in 41.38 and Catherine Martin in 42.06.

Julie Caseley ran 44.33 and Viv Tolley 54.02.

The Joggers' men's team are 12th in the league and the women seventh.

Bengriche competed in the Shakespeare Autumn Half Marathon at the Long Marston Airfield and was seventh out of 278 in 1.24.13.

Joggers' Jim Wheatstone and Kate Biance did the Malvern View 10k starting from Colwall in 51.40 and 1.02.36 respectively.

The Easy Runner Sodbury Slog, a multi-terrain challenge held in some of south Gloucestershire's most stunning countryside, involved two Joggers.

Lynda Broadway ran 1.59.55 and Mike Anstey 1.59.01.

Steve and Lisa Loudon did the Amsterdam Unicef 10K which they completed between hail showers in 48.11 and 57.17 for a personal best respectively.
