TEENAGE modern pentathlete Lottie Trevethan represented Great Britain in the under 17 girls' category at the Laser Run World Championships in South Africa.
More than 20 nations attended the event in Cape Town and it is the first time GB has fielded a team of athletes at the event.
A photo finish eventually saw Malvern's Trevethan, who was the youngest in her category at 14, being awarded fourth place.
The day before leaving for South Africa, she won the Under 16 Dorset county biathlon title with the fastest swim and run time of the day.
The performance will almost certainly qualify her for the British Modern Biathlon Championships in Solihull at the end of November.
Trevethan has also been shortlisted for the Aspiring Talent Award at next month's Herefordshire and Worcestershire Sports Awards at Worcester's Sixways Stadium.
