TWENTY-six Malvern Joggers took part in the 62nd running of the gruelling Beacon Race, a 6.7-mile race to the top of the Worcestershire Beacon organised by Worcester Athletic Club.  

First Jogger home was Jon Newey in a time of 49 minutes 44 seconds for first man over 40 followed by Matt Scriven in 50.21, Ahcene Bengriche in 51.58, Henry Walker in 52.02, Steve Beldon in 52.12, Ben Toon in 56.47 and Sam Eden in 57.17.

Natalie Bennett clocked one hour one minute 13 seconds to be first woman over 35 while Martin Reed-Darby did 1.02.05, Anthony Bennett-Poole 1.02.35, Ian Dyson 1.02.39, Catherine Bowen 1.03.03, Martha Worthington 1.03.11, Mark Seyler 1.03.26 and John Bryan 1.04.02.

Lucy Bennett-Poole was first woman over 45 in 1.06.16 alongside finishes from Roy Hart (1.06.30), Julie Caseley (1.08.18), Brian Henderson (1.09.20), Mike Bolton (1.09.46), Wesley Ogden (1.11.10), Alison Priest (1.12.09), Jim Wheatstone (1.14.16), Lucy Gallagher (1.14.41), Emma Scott (1.20.13) and Gerry Taggart (1.29.26).

Bengriche and Caseley were back for another gruelling race the next day at the picturesque Fforest Fields Cross Country.

First Jogger home was Bengriche who was 21st male in 47.00 followed by 77th man Mark Walker (58.53).

Paul Newman clocked 59.37 for 83rd, Ian Fuller 1.00.13 for 87th and Caseley 1.01.16 for first woman over 55.

Thousands of runners took to the streets of Birmingham for the city's first marathon in more than 30 years.

Mark Hartland was competing for the Stroke charity in support of a fellow Malvern Jogger.

Nic Dauncey clocked 3.36.27, Suzie Lane 3.54.10, Hartland 4.00.29, Jason Protheroe 4.20.16, Julia Heron 4.27.12, Gaynor Bruce 4.50.31, Rosalind Goodman 5.04.00, Fong Bettinson 5.04.01, Derek Goodman 5.04.01 David Brett 5.11.57, Mark Dillon 5.02.00, Tom Appleton 5.30.24, Mike Anstey 5.32.55, Lynda Broadway 5.32.56, Mark Dillon 5.02.09, Annaelle Bolton 5.43.23 and Paula Smy 5.43.24.

In the half-marathon, Alison Merley did 1.43.31 while Megz Judge ran as a guide for a partially-sighted Jogger in 2.11.24.

A team of Joggers were on tour in Budapest taking in the sights as they competed in the city's marathon.

Ian Walwyn finished in 4.58, Amanda Duncan 4.51, Steve Roode 4.10, Glyn Davies 5.09, Viv Tolley 5.13 and Andy Banham 5.16.
