MEMBERS at Malvern Active showed support for National Fitness Day 2017 by collectively swimming more than 100 kilometres.
Sports groups and members using the pool tracked the number of lengths done in the sports complex's 25-metre pool.
By the end of the day the overall accumulated total surpassed 4,000 lengths, a distance of 100km which is the equivalent of swimming the English Channel three times over.
National Fitness Day is the UK’s largest physical activity celebration.
The initiative highlights the role physical activity plays across the UK, helping raise awareness of why it is important to lead a healthier and more active lifestyle.
Rob Young, operations manager at Malvern Active, said: “We are extremely proud of how active our customers are and we’d love to exceed this total next year.
“We all know the benefits of regular exercise — a healthier heart, increased wellbeing and a better quality of life.
"However, being regularly active and retaining a level of fitness can be hard for some.”
