MALVERN competitor Emily Lewis had a successful haul of medals at this year's Senior Kayak National Championships.

The 24-year-old came away with two golds, two silvers and a bronze across a range of distances.

Lewis is a member of the Nottingham-based Great Britain squad and focused on the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

She won her gold medals in the K4 quad with Olympians Rachel Cawthorn, Rebi Simon and Jess Walker.

Lewis backed this up with another win in the K2 double event over 500 metres with Simon.

She also had a strong showing in the single events, taking away a silver and a bronze, making her the second best in GB over 500m.

This rounded off a successful season for Lewis who had earlier represented GB at both the European and World Championships.

The European competition was held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, where Lewis made the final and in a strongly-contested race finished eighth in the K1 single 500m.

At the world championships with the K4 team over 500m alongside Simon, Amy Turner and Deborah Kerr, the GB competitors qualified for the final and finished ninth.

Lewis said: "We were really happy to make the final as this is a young, new crew. However next year we hope to be chasing the medals."

The focus remains firmly on the Olympics in Tokyo 2020 and with three years to go the signs are positive.

Lewis is aided by Malvern Spa who help aid her recovery whenever home.
