REDDITCH club angler Andy Jeffs beat a star-studded turnout to win the two-day Upton Angling Festival on the River Severn with an unbeatable two-point total.

A section-winning first day all-roach net of 6lb 6oz 0dr from peg 35 on the Ham put Jeffs alongside the front-runners.

Match winner Alan Baldwin tamed the difficult conditions best when he put a bolo-caught roach weight of 9-4 onto the scales from peg 11.

Second on the day went to Craig Hobbs with 8-10 from the culvert peg in the town while in third came last year's winner Dave Huggins with 6-10 from peg 23.

Section prizes went to Martin Hunt, John Moloney, John Curtis and Jeffs.

The second day saw the roach feed on the Ham with half-a-dozen anglers recording double figures.

Welsh international angler Andy Murphy stole the show when he took an unbeatable 17-5 of bleak from peg 11 on Hanley Road.

The runner-up prize went to organiser Colin Harvey who put a waggler-taken double-figure catch of roach together on peg 39.

Added to a 3lb chub it tipped the scales at 13-4 to beat Baldwin with 11-2 of bolo-taken roach from peg 31 for third.

Day two section winners were Gerald Hamming, Jeffs, Hunt and Steve Maher.

A previous 17-peg Upton contest gave Baldwin a comfortable win with 22-7 of feeder-caught bream from peg 30.

The best of the float weights went to Alf Hand weighing in 7-8 of roach from peg 33 and in third came Bob McAulay’s peg 13 weight of 6-14.

Carp ace Carl Graham won the Whitehall AC contest at Tirley Court with 190-14.

Second went to Darren Bryant with 113-0 to beat his brother Michael’s third-placed 72-12.

The Whitehall 1212 club tackled Fishponds where Jason Swinford came out on top weighing 7-4 of silvers from peg 15.

Second went to Tracey Pegram with 6-0 and in third came John Shelton’s 5-1 silver fish net.

Section winners were Len Merrell, Richard Oliver and Owen Crane.

Dan Sydall was crowned this year's club champion on the day.

Club star Chris Ballard came out on top of a difficult Droitwich Spa contest on the Fox AC waters on the River Avon at Birlingham.

He put a feeder-caught mixed bag together of 5-0 and Jim Rider came second with 4-1.

Section winners were Gary Summers and Dave Lowe.

On Sunday the club tackle the Upton AC waters on the Severn.
