YOUNGSTER Grace Bowen held her nerve to help The Worcestershire Golf Club's ladies avoid relegation with victory over Nuneaton.

Twelve-year-old Bowen, who played off a handicap of 10, captain Diane Meakin, Jackie Marks and Chris Urry all comfortably won their games to pocket the two points required to survive in the Division Three shootout.

In club competitions, 18 ladies battled blustery conditions to compete in the September Medal.

Meakin claimed top honours in Division One with nett 78, a point ahead of June Jones (79) and two clear of third-placed Sue Boardman (80). Division Two was also won with nett 78 as Ruth Scott headed Jane Poynder on countback. Kay Bromley finished third with nett 83.

A nine-hole Stableford was won by Pauline Taylor with 15 points on countback from Davina Taylor.

Meanwhile, the Worcestershire’s Seniors completed a double victory with a convincing 4-1 win in the bi-annual match against the club’s ladies.

Nigel Teale and Tony Cox (4/3), Andrew Colston and Roger Blackwell (2/1), Andrew Whiteley and Robin Marling (2/1) and James Ferguson and Ted Smith 4/3 were the successful men's pairings.
