IT WAS a case of so near yet so far for the Hunt family as father David and son Jonathan missed out on titles at Bransford Golf Club.

David Hunt was beaten on count-back in the August stableford when he was pipped by Andy Kennedy after both had finished with 36 points in Division One. Gordon Jack was third a point behind.

Count-back also decided Division Two after Craig Berry just eased ahead of Steve Collins after both gathered in 42 points. Wayne Harris was third on 39. Division Three went to Lyndon Gardner who finished on 35, two ahead of Abi Nixon with M Smart third on 32.

Jonathan Hunt’s spot of hard luck came in the August Medal when Steve Collins took top spot on count back after both players had finished on 81-12=69.

Gary Gallagher was third with 93-22=71 and Gordon Jack and Macs Wyard finished fourth and fifth respectively on 81-9=72 and 78-6=72.

Bransford Seniors suffered a 5-1 defeat to Little Lakes, near Bewdley, with Phil Spencer (20) and Peter Harrison (24) and Lee Dyment (19) and Andy Falconer (25) having halved their matches.

Bransford also drew 3-3 with visitors Churchill and Blakedown.

Results (Bransford names first): Alan Wallcroft (22) & John Phillips (20) halved, Ferey Ghani (14) & Falconer won two up, Ivor Lloyd (19) & Roy Williams (20) won two up, Trevor Atkinson (13) & Mike Holmes (28) lost 2&1, Bill Bowen (20) & Roger Clark (23) lost 3&1 and Rob Blake (16) & Barry Nine (16) halved.

Mike Davidge (18) won the Seniors August Medal in Division One. He went out in 45 and came back in 40 to finish nett 67 and beat Gerry Rebbeck (13) by six shots with Bob McGrath (18), who also had a nett 73, third.

Spencer (87-20=67) won Division Two edging out Geoff Aston (22) by two shots, with Ken Jones third on 94-23=71.

Malcolm Bradley (108-27=81) won Division Three as he pipped Mike Kemp (28) who was one shot behind. Allen Rowberry was third on 109-27=82.
