A SELL-OUT field of more than 300 runners from near and far tackled the Malvern Joggers 10-kilometre race on a hot summer night.

Plenty of local clubs were represented as an undulating run started from Welland Primary School and went mainly over tracks, footpaths and fields.

It headed up Hancocks Lane, over the fields to Little Malvern Priory and on towards Swinyard car park and Gullet Quarry before going back over Castlemorton Common to the finish.

First home was Black Pear Joggers’ Ian Radford from Worcester in 37 minutes 43 seconds to follow up his victory at the Worcester Pitchcroft 10k.

He was followed by Henry Sly in 38.55 and another Black Pear in Paul Childs in 40.17.

Malvern Joggers’ Jon Newey was fourth in 40.48 and first in his men’s over 40s age group.

Matt Scriven managed sixth in 40.56, Malvern Joggers' Steve Beldon finished seventh in 41.00 and Hugh Davies was 14th in 43.35.

The first woman home was Shona Crombie Hicks from Cheltenham Country Harriers in 43.38.

Claudia Wildsmith finished in 49.06 and Natalie Bennett from Malvern Joggers did 49.53.

In a tough race a few who only started running in January did the challenge including Malvern's Jodie Pemberton Moffat and Sue Lewis in one hour 33 minutes 53 seconds.
