THERE was a great day’s tennis at Manor Park when they hosted the Malvern Hills Brewery Herefordshire and Worcestershire County Mixed Tournament.
The early rounds were players in a round-robin format with defending open age champions Ellie Fleming and Paul Burgess narrowly missing out on the final by games differences after the top three pairs all lost one match.
In the final, Worcester duo Jon Bradshaw and Kate Horsburgh beat Pershore pair Rachel Prudden and Mike Langston 6-3 to lift the trophy.
This also completed a double triumph for Bradshaw who won the Over 35’s Herefordshire and Worcestershire County Men’s Doubles title earlier this year.
In the over 50’s tournament, there were surprise winners as Jan Thomas and Colin Wright from David Lloyd Bromsgrove pulled off a superb win over Worcester’s Jan Mason and Dave Fox (Worcester).
