SNOOKER legend Willie Thorne is to be the VIP guest at an event to raise money for Worcestershire sports charity CG5.

The popular sportsman will speak at the charity’s golf day and dinner at The Bank House Hotel, Bransford, next Friday supporting young sportspeople across the county.

Golfers will also learn from PGA professional and trick-shot specialist Ady Wheatcroft, gain tips from professionals and use the latest swing and ball-flight technology.

Steve Edwards, a trustee and co-founder of CG5, said: “Our golf day and gala dinner has become a popular fixture in the calendar and we have already seen teams entering from across Worcestershire.

"The support people show us is tremendous. All the money we raise is put towards helping young people achieve and realise their sporting dreams.

"In the past two years we’ve helped both able-bodied and disabled athletes in a range of sports.

"To watch them kick on and prosper is fantastic and it drives us to raise even more this year.

“We look forward to welcoming Willie and all of our guests to what promises to be another great event for CG5.”

Aside from Thorne the gala dinner will feature music from Sally Potterton, a world-renowned violinist.

Seven-year-old champion golfer Jack Dirkin, supported by CG5 to enter tournaments, will also attend.

Packages are available for sponsors, individuals or groups. To book tickets or enter a team visit cg5.org.uk.
