Three Hanley Castle High School pupils have won a place in the national final of the British Schools Karting Championship 2017.

Hamish Cameron-Eveliegh, 14, Jonah Barker, 16, and Harry Yardley-Rose, 13, will compete against the best school and college teams in the country at Whilton Mill in Northamptonshire on Saturday, July 1.

The trio earned their spot by achieving equal third place from 17 teams in the regional final of the UK’s largest school karting competition, which took place at Thruxton race circuit.

Michelle Wheldon, assistant head of sixth form at Hanley Castle, said: “The students drove superbly in every race and really shone in the tricky wet conditions.”
