THE fifth anniversary of the Pendock Spring Chicken run was organised by the Friends of Pendock Primary School in association with Tewkesbury Running Club and Black Pear Joggers.

The 10-kilometre, two-lap option was a Malvern Joggers Champions League race and there was a good turnout for the popular multi-terrain event from local clubs on quiet country lanes and undulating farm tracks.

All proceeds from the race went to supporting Pendock Primary School and there was a large selection of cakes as well as bacon rolls and hotdogs for sale as well as a raffle.

The first of the 21 Joggers home was Matthew Lancett in a time of 42 minutes 53 seconds followed by Nic Dauncey (44.19), Ben Toon (45.49), Sam Eden (46.23), Dave Green (47.16 for first men's veteran over 60), Keith Ruff (50.07), Jason Protheroe (51.32), Andrew Gallagher (51.50), Claire Haynes (52.14), Julie Caseley (52.27), Mike Bolton (52.28), Ian Walwyn (53.16), Steve Roode (53.38), Lucy Gallagher (55.23), Alison Priest (55.28), Mark Dillon (55.42), Sarah Clark (56.19), Glyn Davies (57.17), Patricia Johnson (one hour one minute 57 seconds), Vivien Tolley (1.01.59) and Emma White (1.07.49).

Walwyn competed in the tough 15-mile Llanbedr to Blaenavon fell race with Roode.

There were climbs over Crug Mawr, the back of the Sugar Loaf and the Blorenge.

Roode finished in 3.30 and Walwyn 3.41.

The Poets Path Potter charity fundraising promotion for runners or walkers had a choice of five mainly off-road events in Dymock.

Joggers' Lynda Broadway and Mike Anstey did 26 miles while Tom Appleton and Sarah Lane competed over 18.
