LEDBURY darts ace Terry Jenkins has booked his place at next month’s Coral UK Open in Minehead.

Jenkins will be among 128 players battling for the title in the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) competition from March 4 to 6.

Jenkins impressed at the weekend, reaching a semi-final and a quarter-final at the UK Open Qualifiers in Wigan.

The Bull finished 14th in the UK Open order of merit and will be one of the top PDC 96 players at Minehead along with 32 Rileys amateur qualifiers.

Jenkins will enter the UK Open at the third round stage and the "free draw" format sees an open draw take place for each section.

In Friday’s UK Open Order of Merit and qualifier for the Coral UK Open, Jenkins reached the last four where he was beaten 6-3 by James Wade, the evening’s eventual runner-up.

After a bye in the last 256, Jenkins powered past Ted Evetts (6-3) and pipped Alan Norris (6-5) before thrashing Andy Hamilton 6-1 in the last 32.

Jenkins then toppled Steve Beaton (6-3) in the last 16 and overcame Daryl Gurney 6-4 in the quarter-finals before bowing out to left-handed Wade.

However, Wade was no match for Gary Anderson, who romped home 6-1 in the final.

Jenkins also shone Saturday’s event until crashing to a 6-2 quarter-final defeat against world number Michael van Gerwen.

After a bye in the last 128, Jenkins overcame Darren Mawer (6-2), Kirk Shepherd (6-3) and Ian White (6-4) until bowing out to van Gerwen, who defeated Gerwyn Price in the final.

However, Jenkins made an early exit in Sunday’s qualifier.

After another bye, Jenkins lost 6-2 to Devon Petersen in a last 128, with van Gerwen continuing his superb form, thrashing Beaton 6-2 in the final.
