PAM Emery-Reynolds enjoyed a glorious summer’s day for her lady captain’s day at The Worcestershire in Malvern Wells.

With temperatures going into the 30s, players were more than grateful for the on-course refreshments provided at the halfway house.

The principal competition of the day was an 18-hole stableford with competitors playing both for divisional honours and the Lady Captain’s Salver.

The trophy was lifted by improving golfer Isabel Carmichael, who recorded 40 points to reduce her playing handicap by two strokes, winning both the Copper Division and the salver.

Di Wilde took the Silver Division with 38 ahead of regulars Liz Evans and June Jones, who both made 37.

The same score was achieved by Bronze Division winner Jennifer Musson with Laura Speers and Sandra Schofield taking the minor placings on 33.

Julia Radley’s 36 took second place in the Copper Division and promising newcomer Elizabeth Rooney was third on 33.

Nearest the pin prizes were claimed by Schofield and Ursula Pearson for their efforts on the third and fifth holes respectively, while Joyce Duncan took the longest drive prize with her tee shot on the 17th.

A challenging chipping competition was won by Davina Taylor.

The day’s 10-hole competition went to Kate Cross with 23 stableford points with Esme Davy runner-up on 20 and Betty Mitchell took the prize for the longest drive.
