FEREY Ghani hit top form in Bransford seniors’ June medal to win by four shots from June Atkinson and Leigh Thomas.

Ghani had the day’s lowest gross and nett scores in the three divisions.

Dave Miller, who won Division Two, was also in impressive form in the third round of the stableford league when he finished three points ahead of Bill Bowen in Division Two with 43 points.

Ghani managed 82 gross 15 handicap 67 nett to beat Atkinson (90-19=71) and Thomas (94-20=74) in Division One as well as Tony Lee (92-17=75), Jeff Thomas (90-15=75), Richard Steele (90-13=77) and Charlie Payne (91-14=77).

Division Two in the medal went to Miller with 96-22=74 followed by John Phillips (96-21=75), Bill Bowen (99-20=79), Rob Wetton (102-21=81), Eddie Williams (106-21=85), Alan Wallcroft (107-20=87) and Roger Clark (108-21=87).

The Division Three honours went to Peter Harrison (98-24=74) in front of Martin Saunders (100-24=76), Roy Mayo (101-25=76), Mike Holmes (105-28=77), Bob Matthews (103-25=78) and Chris Hall (104-26=78).

Leading stableford league scores in Division One were Mike Davidge (17 handicap 41 points), Lee (17-39), Trevor Atkinson (15-37), Graham Wilks (15-37), Jeff Thomas (15-35), Bob McGrath (17-35) and Roy Williams (19-35).

Division Two was claimed by Miller (20-43) ahead of Bowen (20-40), Brian Corfield (21-39), Phillips (21-39), Mario Eastham (20-38) and George Batty (20-38).

John Hunaban (28-35) took Division Three followed by Tony Hardiman (24-32), Mike Kenway (28-31), Andy Lamb (24-31), Mike Kemp (28-26) and Adrian Wood (23-25).

The seniors’ BO-AT Trophy was a close affair with Hunaban and Wood just prevailing over McGrath and Harry Godwin.

The competition, introduced in recent years by members and sponsors Trevor Atkinson and Bowen, is a greensomes stableford event where the handicap each duo play off is 60 per cent of the lowest and 40 per cent of the highest combined.

Hunaban (28) and Wood (23) pipped McGrath (17) and Godwin (16) thanks to a better back-nine score after both pairs chalked up 41 points.

June Atkinson and Leigh Thomas returned a score of 40, while Mike and Cynthia Holmes had 39 along with Chaz Ivill and Chris Hall, while Davidge and Dave Lumsden finished with 37.

Bransford seniors remained unbeaten at home after winning their latest match against visiting Kington 5-1.

It was the section’s 12th victory from 14 club matches.
