MALVERN Anglers fished the sixth and final match of their Spring Cup Series at Whitehall pool.

In showery and windy conditions, another good turn-out struggled to catch fish of any sort.

Three single carp dominated the top weights with Nigel Bayliss showing his skill in landing a 13lb 13oz specimen, caught on pole-fished single maggot and size 20 hook, to make up his winning weight of 14-10.

The second-placed Frank Edwards and Chris Loveridge in third used more robust Leger tackle to land their single carp of 7-3 and 4-12 respectively.

Dave Harris included some eels in his fourth-placed weight of 3-5, while Sean Taylor’s 2-13 was dominated by a bream.

At the end of the series, the points total to decide the cup was close, with Edwards winning by just one point ahead of close rivals Loveridge and Taylor.
