BUSY Bransford seniors have been involved in four club matches and several regular competitions.

Their unbeaten start to the season ended with a narrow 4-3 defeat at Churchill and Blakedown, just a couple of days after a fine 4½-1½ win at Evesham.

They got back to winning ways after the Churchill loss with a comfortable 5½-1½ home win over Little Lakes but then lost on their inaugural visit to Naunton Downs 4-2.

On the club competition front, Ian Hamilton showed the rest of the field a clean pair of heels in Division One of the April Medal.

He was seven shots clear of his nearest rival with his gross score, which enabled him to snatch a two-shot nett win over Tony Lee.

Hamilton managed 83 gross 12 handicap 71 nett ahead of Lee (90-17=73), Mike Weaver (93-18=75), Mike Davidge (91-17=75), Rob Blake (92-15=77) and Richard Steele (91-12=79).

Division Two went to Bill Bowen (90-20=70) followed by John Phillips (93-20=73), Brian Lawrence (96-22=74), Brian Taylor (99-22=77), Rob Wetton (98-21=77) and Neil Sheldon (100-23=77).

Division Three was won by John Knowles (93-24=69) in front of Dick Bettsworth (99-26-73), Martin Saunders (100-24=76) and Cynthia Holmes (112-33=79).

The Mayor’s Chalice was a tightly-fought affair with Roger Clark just edging home ahead of two seniors’ committee members, Bob McGrath and Brian Taylor, by one point in the stableford trophy competition off the yellow tees.

Clark returned to the clubhouse with 41, which was sufficient to squeeze into first spot from McGrath and Taylor on 40.

Other leading scores were Gerry Rebbeck (39), Hamilton and Phillips (38) and Lawrence and Chris Hall (37).
