THE spring marathon season kicked off in Paris for two Malvern Joggers members.

Bert Lacey finished the city’s popular event in four hours one minute 41 seconds and takes on the famous London course on Sunday, April 26.

Mark Cooling completed the course in 4.15.00.

Much closer to home, Paul Webb was the only Jogger to take on the Worcester full-marathon distance and ran 4.17.39.

Several others opted for the half-marathon and put in good performances.

Stuart Brown clocked 1.39.41 for third in the men’s veterans over 60s, putting him in good shape for the London Marathon.

He was followed by Debbie Parker in 1.49.20, Suzie Lane in 1.55.36, Kareen Mann in 1.55.53, Andrew Gallagher in 1.58.13, Julia Heron in 2.08.49 and Helen Hey in 2.16.25.

Trevor Matty started the marathon and withdrew due to injury but still completed the half distance in 2.21.36.

Julie Caseley competed in the final race in the Centurion Grand Prix Series in Solihull and scooped a cash prize for a time of 40.41 over the five-mile flat course.

She was second in her age category for a boost ahead of her sixth appearance at London Marathon.
