THE Worcestershire secretary Terry Smith proved good golf can be achieved in a four-club competition with 38 stableford points.
A member of the Malvern Wells club for 38 years, Smith (7 handicap) was joined by the experienced Gary Lynes, Mike Sterry and Les Facer in conjuring shots from a limited bag of clubs.
Lynes (11) was second in Division One with 36 on count-back from Shaun Porritt (11) and Mark Groves (10).
Division Two winner Rob Schooling (14) also achieved 38 ahead of Ian Brazier (16) 35, Cuth McDowell (16) 34 and Sterry (14) 33.
Facer (handicap 18) took Division Three with 36, followed by Frank Turner (20), Wayne Stinton (21) and Graham Sinclair (22) on 34.
The contest, held annually for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, raised more than £300 for the charity.
In a friendly, a team representing The Worcestershire ladies’ captain Pam Emery-Reynolds successfully challenged one representing her vice-captain Jill Mico in a four-ball event.
