SEVEN mixed teams from The Worcestershire braved the winter weather and a brief hailstorm for an alliance stableford.

Three scores counted at each hole and the day started brightly enough, if soft underfoot, with a wind making life difficult.

Tina Jukes, April Wilding, Ian Jukes and Andy Greene were clear winners with 115 points.

Second with 107 were Isobel Carmichael, Joan Herbert, Charles Carmichael and Gordon Herbert ahead of Elsie Kelsall, Diane Meakin, Ralph Kelsall and Paul Meakin (106).

The Bronze Division’s Joan Herbert led the field with 35 points when the ladies’ section played an 18-hole, non-qualifying stableford.

Hazel Cartledge was second on 32 with June Jones taking third overall and leading the Silver Division on 31.

The Copper Division was won by Margaret Duncan.

A team comprising Peter Basten, Paul Jones, Shaun Porritt and Mike Hanna recorded a score of 57.6 to win the men’s Texas scramble at the Malvern Wells club.

Dave Bray, David Stephens, Clint Webbe and Mike Sterry were second with 58.4 with Paul Butler, John Wright, David Wood and Trevor Simmons third on 59.3.
