JASON Allies and Lucy Walton were major prize-winners at The Worcestershire’s annual trophy presentation evening.

Club captain Roger Brierly handed over accolades to successful members assisted by secretary Terry Smith, master of ceremonies Steve Bradshaw and ladies’ captain Pam Emery-Reynolds.

Allies won the Club Championship, Schweppes Cup, Sunday Cup and, with Andy Dunster, the De Vere trophies.

Mark Read claimed the Parker Cup, Easter Challenge prize and, with Phil Birch, the Ledbury Cup.

Talented junior Walton bagged the Worcestershire County Challenge Cup, Ladies’ Club Championship, Russell Bogey, Helen Irwin Trophy, Muriel Button Vase and Kate Brinton Centenary Cup.

Another teenager, Josh Marshall, secured the prestigious Irish and College Cups together with the Club Junior Championship.

Fellow promising junior Allaster Renton received the junior golfer of the year award.

Di Wilde enjoyed a good year, winning both the Members’ Cup and Ledbury Plate.

Gary Godwin lifted the Meredith Cup and was runner-up with Chris Rawlings in the Ledbury Cup.

Birch was the king of pairs golf.

He bagged the Ledbury Cup with Read, the Rose Bowls with Liz Pool and the Stan McCabe trophy with Andy McCabe.

Steve Hill was victorious in the Spreckley Foursomes with Peter Hill and the Gadd Brothers trophy with Paul Adams. Pete Basten lifted the Spencer Cup and, with Paul Jones, the Winter Better-Ball trophy.

Mike Bolton claimed the Deerhurst Cup and the Tankard Foursomes with James Hayburn. Many members won a single trophy.

In club competitions, the steady pairing of Pat Rose and Jen Bishop took the ladies’ winter league greensomes stableford with 37 points.

They finished ahead of Tina Juckes and Corinne Mills on 33, Jane Quick and Liz Evans on 32 and Jenny Musson and Penny Stevenson on 31.

A nine-hole competition was won by Kate Cross with Betty Mitchell second.

Club chairman Jim Wilde and his wife Di led the field home in the first of the winter mixed competitions, returning a 41 point better-ball stableford score.

Doreen Hunt and Mike Dobel were second with 40, while Ian and Tina Dukes finished third on 38.
