MALVERN teenager Camey Dorrell stormed to a third-placed podium finish in the BriSCA Ministox Gold Cup National Championship.

The 14-year-old, who is following in the footsteps of her racing driver father Clinton, has been competing since the age of 10.

She battled with England’s top young drivers, aged from 12 to 16, all season, gaining valuable qualifying points to earn a row five, inside grid position at Northampton International Raceway.

During the race, Dorrell quickly battled up to third spot until she was spun around onto the in-field.

But The Chase School pupil recovered well after continuing from the back of the grid.

Dorrell used all her skills to fight her way back up to take a well-earned third place. The teenager has raced all over the country as well as on tracks in the Isle of Man, New Zealand and Holland, where she also finished third in the European Championships.

With a few meetings left until the end of the season, Dorrell will look to secure a top-six spot to achieve Superstar grade status for the start of the 2015 campaign.
