THE Worcestershire attracted 70 pairs to their seniors’ mixed open.

Playing a greensome stableford format in Malvern Wells, Peter Hill and Liz Pool beat opposition from seven counties to take the honours with 42 stableford points.

They finished one ahead of club-mates Chris Price and Vivienne Marsden, aided by superb course conditions.

Paul and Elaine Waring, of Redditch, were third with 40, one ahead of home pair Colin and Jenny Jones.

Cementing their reputation as mixed golf specialists, Hill and Pool also reached the final of the club’s summer mixed knockout with Liz Lewis and Phil Birch respectively.

n Ex-professional Nick Ellis scored the top gross in Ross-on-Wye's autumn scratch and handicap.

Out of 117 members, Ellis carded 72 ahead of Tim Wyatt (76) and Warren Moore (78).

For the nett prize, 11-handicapper Charles Houlbrooke won with 69 on count-back from Tony Dallow.

The Gordon Blake Cup went to 12-handicapper Chris Taylor with a nett 65.

However, Dallow just missed out on top spot on count-back again.
