LEDBURY rider Pippa Wollen and Phoenix won the Pony Club NFU Mutual National Novice Individual Eventing Championship to complete a dream season.
Representing North Hereford Pony Club, the pair had won the dressage and eventing novice area nine competitions.
They progressed to the nationals at Kelsall Hill, Cheshire, where they again took the top spot.
Wollen, 14, this time with Fern, and North Hereford were sixth at the Pony Club Equi Trek Intermediate Mounted Games Championships in Cholmondeley Castle, Cheshire.
Georgia Edwards, Aerin Thomas, Georgia Barrett and Charlotte Wilson were also in the team.
They won the area nine competition to take them through to the central zone finals in June before qualifying for the championships.
Wollen, a Malvern St James Girls’ School pupil, said: “I can’t believe the fantastic season I have had with my ponies, both individually and with my fantastic mounted games team-mates.
“The hours of training and competing you have to put in are made even more worthwhile when you get to the championships. It’s been a year to remember.”
