DAVID Dennis Racing is hosting an open day for the public at Hanley Swan’s Tyre Hill Stables on Sunday, September 14, from 10am until 3pm.

Local residents will have the chance to go beyond the gates and take a tour of the stables and the 140-acre estate, which has undergone a £2million refurbishment.

The stables are occupied by trainer and former jump jockey David Dennis and his wife Kate.

With a 10-year career as a professional jump jockey which yielded more than 240 winners, Dennis, along with his experienced team, has a wealth of racing knowledge.

They train 30 horses using a wide range of facilities, including two purpose-built all-weather gallops, equine pool, solarium, indoor school and horse walker on site.

At the open day, there will be a bouncy castle for children and tractor and trailer rides which will tour the gallops, as well as a horse parade, hog roast and a bar.

All the facilities will be open to view at the stables, which are within easy reach of Worcester, Cheltenham and Stratford racecourses.

Trainer David Dennis said: “We moved here about 12 months ago and feel it’s the right time to let people know what we have been up to.

“As we’ve been so busy with the yard renovations, hiring staff and horse training, we haven’t really had the chance to speak to anyone beyond the gates.

“We really hope local people will come along to the open day, spread the word and show support to our enterprise.

“We have put in a lot of blood, sweat and tears but we are finally happy with the environment we have managed to achieve.

“We are hoping to expand our stables even further in the near future, creating more local jobs.

“As well as local people, we are also inviting friends and contacts from the international world of horse racing.

“I grew up within a racing family and it is a big moment for me to be able to open my own yard, which I want to share with as many people as possible.

“I am extremely passionate about horse racing and want to use my jockey and pre-training experience to ensure all the horses receive the very best care and expertise from myself and our staff and myself.”
