MALVERN St James Girls’ School are celebrating the selection of year nine pupil Georgina Jeynes-Cupper for the under 18s Aegon County Cup girls’ squad for 2014.

Jeynes-Cupper, who is still just 13 and from Worcester, is coached by Chris Skinner in Malvern as well as Peter Russell in Gloucester.

She is a rising tennis talent at county and national level and was ranked UK number 21 for under 12s.

Jeynes-Cupper is the winner of the under 14s county doubles with her sister Katie, who is also a pupil at St James.

She has won five regional competitions and plays at the nationals every year.

The Lawn Tennis Association has identified her for regional training and she has secured sponsorship from Wilson.

Jeynes-Cupper and the under 18s team will be playing their next county fixture in Wrexham at the end of February.

Patricia Woodhouse, headteacher of St James, said: “Congratulations to Georgina for a succession of achievements.

"Sport is at the heart of our curriculum at Malvern St James and we like to help each and every one of our girls achieve the very best in their chosen area of expertise.

"I have seen Georgina out on court, practising through rain and shine – her dedication is clear.

"As a school, we wish her and the whole under 18s county team all the best for their forthcoming matches."
