THE winter season of mixed competitions at the Worcestershire Golf Club kicked off with an Alliance Stableford played off 3/4 handicap with one gents and one ladies score to count at each hole.

Eighteen teams took part and eight teams returned scores under par. Third on countback were Liz Evans, John Daly, Pat and Brian Longley with 75 points.

Second with 77 points were Mary Horrobin, Terry O'Donnell, Ann and Tim Wilson. Winners with 80 points were Alex and Andy Dunster, Penny and Derek Stevenson.

At the AGM the winners were presented with their prizes. Sally Dare won the Helen Irwin Cup for the most improved player of the year reducing her handicap to ten; Pat Rose won the Jessie Kendall Cup for the best four medal rounds during the year in bronze division, Cathy Harris winning the Muriel Button in silver division. Jill Exell won the Past Captains' bowl.

The October medal was won by Liz Evans in silver division, 2 Joss Penrhyn and 3 Sally Dare. Norma Pottinger won division two beating Pat Rose and Alex Dunster into second and third places, Janet Manning-Cox won division three with 2 Trina Smith and 3 Zena Lloyd.

In the first fun competition of the winter Davina Taylor partnered with Marina Marling won the four ball Betterball Stableford with an unbeatable score of 49 points; Jan Strain and Di Wilde beating Linda Marsh and Jessica Paget in to second place on countback with 45 points.

Junior Stableford results from October 24: 18 holes white tee - 1 Josh Asquith, 2 James Herd, 3 Richard Tuck.

18 holes yellow tee - 1 Ben Wicket (new hcp 28), 2 Jonathan Pereria (new hcp 34), 3 Dave Humphries (new hcp 35), 4 Nathan Budd (new hcp 35).

7 holes - 1 Bill Thomas, 2 Hugh Harris, 3 Jack Taylor, 4 Paul Harris.
