Droitwich Spa Devils 1 - Worcester City Wanderers 5.
MUCH better performance today and the first win of the season. Still much improvement needed but a nice result for the Wanderers to build from.
The game started off well with the Wanderers putting a lot of pressure on the Droitwich defence and creating quite a few chances to score.
Goals were always going to come, and Bobbi Spragg scored with a nice lob after good build up play with Laura Burton. After some good pressure Katie Sampson scored the second with a long range effort.
After a bright first 20 minutes, the last 20 was not as good with some lazy play from both sides. However the Wanderers defence looked very comfortable and strong.(HT 0-2) The second half started with Droitwich pulling a goal back with a close range shot after a mix up in defence. The Wanderers responded well though and again created many chances to score while holding Droitwich well.
Ollie Sheldon made some good runs and had a few efforts on goals as did the strikers. Laura scored two goals one after a mistake from the goalkeeper and the other a long range curling effort from the edge of the area.
Late on Katie added another with a deflected shot to give the Wanderers a well deserved win. (FT 1-5).
Much better performance and clearly were the stronger team. Really need to build on this performance now for next week's game.
Goals - Bobbi Spragg, Katie Sampson (2), Laura Burton (2).
GOM - Bobbi Spragg.
