U15 Girls Home vs Burlish Redditch Utd. 20/09/2008.

Worcester City Wanderers 1, Redditch Utd 5.

NOT the best start for the Wanderers with Redditch given too much time on the ball and they were able to dictate play for most of the half. Wanderers worked hard but found it hard to create many chances.

Injuries were a real problem Jess Dore injured her hip and Laura Burton had already injured ribs and we were down to 9 and 10 players at certain periods during the half. With Kirsty Bradley also playing through the pain barrier along with a few more it was not surprising that Redditch took the lead after a mistake in goal from Katie Sampson and shortly after made it 2 with a well worked move.

Wanderers did manage to pull one back with a nice finish from Laura Burton after a good through ball from Jess Dore. The half finished with better pressure from Wanderers and had a few good attacks to finish the half. (HT 1-2) Another injury to Ollie Sheldon meant that Ollie moved into goal and Katie moved upfront. Second half started better but again Redditch were given too much time on the ball and were able to pass it around.

Good runs from Fran Colarossi and Laura Burton really put Redditch under pressure with more chances being created. Katie could have equalised when she had a great chance in front of goal and had a few other shots which put the Redditch goalkeeper under pressure.

With the injuries and fitness of the players showing Redditch scored a third and a fourth and in the final minutes scored a fifth past Laura who finished off the game in goal. Megan Burton was named Girl of the Match with multiple goal saving challenges and blocks when Wanderers were under a lot of pressure. (FT 1-5).

G.O.M - Megan Burton. Goals - Laura Burton.
