NEWTOWN SPORTS JNRS u14s 3, EVESHAM UNITED u14s 2

NEWTOWN had much of the possession in the first-half and caused Evesham a number of problems at the back.

Although Evesham looked dangerous on the break Newtown took a deserved lead through Tom Yates after an excellent pass from Joss Speight. Evesham started the second-half well but a quick throw by Sam Colbourne caught out the visitors’ defence and allowed Nathan Bass to run in and score.

Shortly after, Yates scored his second of the contest and Newtown’s third with a header from a Bradley Heron corner.

Evesham scored two late goals to make it a nervy last few minutes for the hosts.

But with Chris King and Jake Hooper outstanding at the back, Newtown held on for the win.

NEWTOWN Sports Juniors FC is to hold a charity football match at Malvern Town Football Club on Sunday, May 10.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Air Ambulance. The club would like to hear from anyone who has represented them before and who would like to take part. In particular they are looking for as many of the original football team as possible. For more information, call Danny on 07883 042287.
