Belmont foil Predators in Keys derby

KEYS Predators met Belmont Keys in a AAA Printing Malvern Football League derby game and were confident of taking all three points on current form of the two teams.

Their confidence looked well-founded when they went in front from a well-taken penalty by Dave Bradders and that was the only goal scored in the first-half.

At the start of the second-half Belmont pulled level when Rob Burston scored and then took the lead when Calum White was also on target. The Predators were back on level terms as Graham Jones found the back of the net but it was Belmont that had the final say as Calum White scored his second and Belmont had earned a deserved 3-2 win.

The ever-improving Beauchamp side took on the Cross Keys in what proved to be a much closer game than the Keys had expected. In the first-half it was the Keys side that were the more dominant and they went into the break with a 2-0 advantage due to goals from Chris Grubb and Ollie Endacott.

In the second half it was a very different Beauchamp side that took the field and they were making things difficult for the Keys. When John Allen was on target for the Beauchamp they were in with a chance of causing an upset and they knew it. They fought for everything and went forward at times they would not usually have as they battled for the equaliser but it was not to be and the Keys held on for their 2-1 victory.

Keys 04 played Fromes Tigers and raced into an early 2-0 lead thanks to an Andy Lancett double. Tigers reduced the deficit when Luke Rogers won the race for the through ball and put it past the stranded Keyz goalkeeper. The two goal lead was restored when Ricky Buckland was on target and the lead was extended when Dave Perera scored and the first-half ended 4-1. The second-half was a much closer contest and the only goal scored was from Ross Sweetman to make the final scored 4-2 to the Keyz side.

Talbot Head faced the Morgan Aero 8 and it was a game that saw the lead changing all the time. As both teams had to start short of players it did Talbot no favours when Dan Briscoe was sent off after just ten minutes. Despite being short on numbers Talbot managed to score three times through a Matt Cooke penalty and an Adam Webb brace. Unfortunately for the Talbot, Morgan scored four to take the three points thanks to a James Argent strike and a Martin Philpotts hat-trick.

In their HFA match the Fir Tree came unstuck against Club RBL and went down 6-1.

The next AAA Printing Malvern Football League meeting is on Monday (December 10) at the Civil Service Club, Malvern, starting at 7.30pm.
