MALVERN Town moved back up into second in the West Midlands Football League Premier Division after a 3-0 midweek win at local rivals Pegasus Juniors.

Busy Malvern followed up last weekend's 3-1 win at Cradley Town before visiting Hereford Lads Club tonight, Wolverhampton Casuals on Saturday (3pm) and high-flying rivals Tividale on Tuesday (7.45pm).

“We ran out deserved winners at Cradley and Pegasus,” said manager Les Jones.

“We’ve played some decent stuff and scored some good goals along the way.

“With key games against the likes of Tividale and (leaders) Wolverhampton Sporting (on May 5) still to come, we need to take maximum points to keep the pressure on.

“This kind of schedule will test us but I am confident we have the squad to deal with such demands.

“Everyone in the group will have a role to play and they have to be ready to step in and do a job.

“You could say that it is a make-or-break period in our season but the lads are responding well to it."

Malvern's first visit of the week to Hereford ended in a 3-0 win at Pegasus after they dominated the first half without scoring.

Matt Turner's shot was parried by keeper Jon Hopkins and Josh Hunt fired over when clear on goal.  Harry Wickett and Hunt were denied with Hopkins impressing before Town went ahead seven minutes after the break.

Louis Loader’s 30-yard free-kick was parried for Turner to fire home.

Pegasus could have levelled but keeper Charlie Weaver forced George Andrews to fire wide on 67 minutes.

Six minutes later, Malvern increased their lead when Lewis Platt's cross-shot was helped over the line by the wind.

Hunt completed the scoring nine minutes from time following Turner's cross.

Town were able to replace key players in the final minutes while Platt and Turner had late efforts disallowed for offside.

For Saturday's clash with 10th-placed Casuals, defender and coach Dene Whittal-Williams admitted: "They are always tricky opponents.

“As a group we need to be prepared to work hard and stick to our principles.

"We know that on our day we are capable of beating anyone in this league."
