HANLEY Swan progressed in the Cheltenham League's Junior Charity Trophy after a 4-2 win on penalties over Prestbury Rovers following a 1-1 draw.

Hosts Hanley nearly went ahead after 10 minutes when Jackson McMullen hit the bar with a header.

Minutes later Luke Duffett put Kevin Moore through but he blasted over.

Adam Webb hit the post before Prestbury came into the game but never really troubled the defence.

Late in the half Moore made another good run but his effort was cleared off the line.

The second half saw Hanley continue to put pressure on with Moore, James Holloway, Duffett and James Moule going close before Webb had another effort cleared off the line.

Against the run of play and late in the game, Prestbury took the lead.

But Hanley did not give up and with seconds to go a corner was helped on by Duffett for McMullen at the back post to level with the last kick of normal time.

In the penalty shoot-out, Hanley’s Dan Rawlings saved Prestbury’s first effort and Moore scored his spot-kick.

Rawlings kept out Prestbury’s second penalty before Holloway, McMullen and Webb wrapped it up for Hanley.

They host Tewksbury Town Reserves in Division Two on Saturday.
