A QUICK-FIRE Ash Griffiths hat-trick helped Malvern Vale Academy beat Winchcombe Town Reserves 7-2 in the Cheltenham League.

He took just 30 minutes to bag his treble which included a penalty. Les Brown converted another Academy spot-kick before Anthony Cakebread netted.

Winchcombe did pull a goal back before the break through former Vale winger Glenn Hardimen.

But the Academy increased their lead with another Griffiths goal.

Skipper Sam Gandy then pounced for his side’s seventh, putting a long-distance effort into the empty net.

Winchcombe grabbed a second but they finished the game with 10 men when Harry Davies saw red for a challenge on Gav Hodgkins.
