HAT-TRICK hero John Mills says it would be nice if Hereford could make it all the way to the First Round Proper of the FA Cup.

The Bulls hammered Godalming Town 8-0 in a First Round Qualifying tie at Edgar Street and Mills is hopeful the draw would be kind again on the Bulls on Monday lunchtime.

"There's three more rounds left and you hope for a nice home draw again," said Mills.

"The further you go, the more expectation there will be but hopefully we'll get to the first round one of these days."

Hereford could easily have scored double the amount of goals that they did such was their dominance, but were guilty of squandering a host of chances.

"It was on of those games where it's too easy and it's hard to keep at such a high tempo for the 90 minutes," added Mills.

"It's tough on them after the keeper gets sent off and we're starting to look to see how many we can get and another day it would have been double figures, but that's what happens.

"But we kept going and scored a few at the end, so we will take an 8-0 and through to the next round."

It was a good opportunity for the Hereford to get their scoring boots back on after a couple of below performances.

Mills concedes that the opening league games have proved how tough the Southern Premier League is.

"There wasn't a massive jump from the Midland League to the South & West but this is one," he said.

"It's a bit of a reality check for our players and hopefully for the fans that it's not going to be a walk in the park like it's been for the last two years.

"There are going to be games where we have to ground out 1-0 wins, but it was nice to go out there and play lesser opposition.

"But the bread and butter is the league and we go back to that next Saturday."
