PUPILS representing Worcestershire schools formed an under 15s football side to win at the Gothia Cup in Sweden.

The co-captain was 15-year old Erin Smith from Malvern's The Chase School.

The squad also included Christopher Whitehead Language College's and Wolverhampton Wanderers' Ashleigh Corbett, 13, Tudor Grange Academy's Emma Congrave and Laura Brown and Rebecca Finch, Jess Hood and Layla Hart from Droitwich Spa High School.

Gothenburg hosted the tournament which attracted representatives from 82 nations. 

The girls all played at under 14s level last season for Worcestershire schools so stepped up an age group in Sweden under the name TGK Worcestershire.

As well as enjoying their time there off the pitch the players marched into the Play-off B final where they beat Gideonsbergs 4-1.

Competing well against physical opponents the girls beat Tölö 2-0 in the semis.

They won warm-up games 4-0 and 2-1 before a tight group brought a 6-0 victory over Hagaströms, a 2-0 loss to Habo and a goalless draw with Tallboda to leave them third.

They went on to beat Vänersborgs 5-0, Hvaler/Kråkerøy 4-1 and Mjölby 3-1 to reach the last four before winning their section.
