HEREFORD FC manager Pete Beadle says he's looking to bring in another experienced centre-back.

The Bulls have already brought in Mark Preece from Chippenham Town, but now Beadle wants to add another one to the squad.

"People may raise eyebrows but it will bring even more experience to the table - someone who has played at a much higher level than we are at the moment," said Beadle.

"I'm excited by it if it comes off.

"Certainly at times this year, we've looked a little bit shaky.

"Ryan [Green] brings a huge amount of experience, but he doesn't bring it vocally - he brings it in his performance instead.

"Jimmy [Oates] is still growing in the English game, so he's not what you would call a natural leader and Joel [Edwards] obviously leads again by example.

"But we need someone a bit more vocal who can talk to players in front of them and organise and gee people up.

"I think we need that right now

"We are a defender short at the moment and, even with Chris Parry's injury, it only leaves us with Mark [Preece] and Ryan now, so I think we need another one and if it comes off, it will be a good one for us."

Talking about why Preece's arrival, Beadle said: "He's experienced, he's been in winning teams so he's got that mentality, but you will see with Mark is he's a more 'horrible version of Jamie Willets' because he's been brought up that way.

"He's played in the league and the Conference and hopefully he will bring a leadership quality to the group that we need - the dominating centre-half that's going to be vocal."
