HEREFORD FC player-coach Chris Barker has left the club to take up an assistant manager's role at Weston-Super-Mare.

Barker made 12 appearances for the Bulls after joining from Aldershot Town, where he had a spell as assistant manager.

“Barks has been given an opportunity to further his coaching career with a step back up to a managerial role," Hereford manager Pete Beadle told the club's official site.

"He’s been an important player for us so far this season with his experience but he’s not getting any younger.

"He knows where his future lies and we thank him for his efforts while at Edgar Street.”

Weston manager Scott Bartlett added: "This is a fantastic appointment and a real coup for the Club.

"I have got to know Barks over the last few years in our roles at Forest Green Rovers and Aldershot and am looking forward to working with him and taking our Club forward.

"He is vastly experienced as a player and a coach so brings a lot to the table. I think his experience will help our talented young players and thank the Board for backing me."

Hereford are still waiting for international clearance for new full-back Adam Davies, but are hopeful they will get it in time for this Saturday's home game with Didcot Town.
