MALVERN Town are aiming to cap a hugely successful season with victory in the Worcester Royal Infirmary Cup final.

Town have already finished fifth in the West Midlands League Premier Division after recording a 3-0 success at Gornal Athletic last Saturday, which saw the Black Country side miss out on second spot.

They also won the Worcestershire FA Senior Urn when they overcame Midland League Premier Division champions Highgate United 3-0 last month.

Now they have a cup double in their sights when they take on Bewdley Town at the HDanywhere Stadium tomorrow (3pm) and will be out to make the most of home advantage.

Malvern manager Les Jones said: “It would be nice to have a cup double.

“It would be a fine end to the season and it would be brilliant. We finished fifth in the league and beating Gornal was a great result on Saturday because they needed a result to finish runners-up.

“I think it’s been a phenomenal season for us, not only with the results and winning the Senior Urn.

“We have had a lot of young players come through, like Jamie Smith, Sam Rathbone, Ben Hayes, Matt Turner and Charlie Weaver.

“It’s been a successful and exciting season.”

Malvern have been chasing a top-six finish all season because it puts them on course to be included in next season’s FA Cup.

But Jones’ side went one better by finishing fifth, going unbeaten in their final 10 games and winning their last five.

The manager also has one eye on next season and is confident of keeping his youthful squad together as they seek to continue their development into the 2015-16 campaign.

“I don’t see any reason unless clubs from a higher league come in,” Jones said. “It’s been an enjoyable season and they have had a great team spirit.

“I am very optimistic we can retain everyone.

“My target would be to have every one of them back for next season.”

Malvern do not have any fresh injury concerns for tomorrow’s final, although they still have long-term absentees in Bryan Craven and Joe Endacott.

The club also hold their end-of-season presentation evening following the cup final when the player of the season will be announced.
