LEDBURY Town Reserves added their second silverware of the season by winning the Herefordshire FA Junior Cup on Wednesday night.

They recorded a 2-1 win in the final over Tenbury Town at Westfields’ ground in Hereford to add to last week’s Ross Cup triumph.

Dan Herbert headed in a corner from Scott Roberts and then scored a penalty during the first-half before Tenbury fought back in the second period with a goal from Matt Clifford.

Forward Martin Loveridge should be able to play in the Herefordshire FA Burghill Cup final against rivals Bromyard at Westfields next Wednesday (7.30pm) despite receiving a red card for violent conduct last weekend.

Ledbury can first win the Herefordshire League Division One crown with at least a draw at home to second-from-bottom Fownhope Reserves at New Street tomorrow (2.30pm).

Town drew level on points with Bromyard after winning 3-1 at Hinton Reserves as their title rivals surprisingly lost 3-2 at Ewyas Harold Reserves, who fell 4-2 to Ledbury in the Ross Cup final.

But Ledbury did not have things all their own way as young referee Hayden Kirby issued a straight red card to Loveridge for violent conduct along with three bookings in total during the match.

Midfielder Ian Jennings fired wide from a Town counter-attack on four minutes before teenage keeper Elliot Watts saved well on several occasions from the mid-table hosts.

Although captain Jamie Welch hit the bar with an effort for Ledbury, their defender Rodney Hathaway had to clear off the line at the other end.

Forward Welch tested the Hinton keeper twice before Ledbury broke the deadlock on 35 minutes with Hathaway dispatching a spectacular 25-yard volley into the net after being picked out by a corner.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men on 61 minutes when Loveridge was sent off for retaliation although his Hinton opponent escaped with a yellow card.

But Ledbury shrugged off the man disadvantage to extend their lead two minutes later with a fine goal from Welch.

Keeper Watts continued to frustrate Hinton but substitute Patrick Morgan nearly made it three when he hit the bar.

However, Hinton pulled a goal back 15 minutes from time with a penalty after Tom Watkins fouled an opposing forward.

Morgan did find the net five minutes from time to seal the points for Ledbury, who now look to secure promotion to the Premier Division as champions and win a third cup of the campaign.
