A GLASGOW cathedral is to be given a £500,000 boost from Historic Scotland.
The money will be used for conservation work, as well as improving access, providing a visitor space and enhancing information for tourists and schoolchildren.
Announcing the cash injection for St Andrew's Cathedral, Culture Minister Mike Russell said the A-listed building was a "culturally, socially and architecturally important" site.
He said the Clyde Street cathedral would be able to carry out a range of repairs, and boost facilities for people with disabilities, the congregation and community, as well as tourists and school groups.
Archbishop of Glasgow Mario Conti said: "We are very grateful for this contribution towards the very necessary repair and redevelopment work which is scheduled for the Cathedral.
"It is a fine building which is a much-loved Glasgow landmark."
