LEDBURY Town Reserves booked a Herefordshire FA Burghill Cup final place with a 5-1 romp at Holme Lacy.

They ensured a second cup final this season with a hat-trick from prolific forward Jamie Welch and strike partner Dan Herbert’s brace.

The former first-team players had also inspired Town in the Herefordshire FA Junior Cup last four in December when they ran out 5-1 winners against Bromyard.

Richard Macdonald replied for Holme Lacy.

Phil Preedy and Roly Welch’s high-flying squad now look forward to the Burghill Cup final against Bromyard at Mudwalls, Bishops Frome, on a date to be confirmed.

Ledbury’s Herefordshire League Division One title rivals won 3-1 at Tenbury Town in their semi earlier this month.

The reserves and the young Ledbury Colts side are still without a permanent ground due to the continued closure of New Street, after the football club was forced to fold at the start of the year due to debts.

Town’s second string are in action tomorrow against mid-table Division One side Fownhope Reserves in the HJ Handley Cup quarter-finals at a home venue to be arranged (2pm).

They also have a rescheduled Ross Cup semi-final at home to the same side on Saturday, March 7 (2pm), after the original fixture was postponed due to wet weather.

Meanwhile, Colts suffered a 5-2 defeat at Herefordshire League Division Three rivals Orleton Colts Reserves.

They dropped to fourth in the table after occupying second spot below leaders Dore Valley for several weeks.

Pete Boyle and Jamie Gladwin netted for the visitors, while Liam Watton hit a hat-trick for Orleton alongside strikes from Ben Apperley and Corey Whitticase.

Richard Thick’s team, who have two games in hand over Valley, visit Malvern Vale tomorrow (2.30pm) after beating them 12-0 in January.
