UPTON Town and Hanley Swan both fell to Cheltenham Association Football League Division One defeats.

Luan Gashi scored for Upton in a 3-1 defeat at RSG, while Hanley Swan crashed 6-1 to Churchdown Panthers with Cathal McTernan on target.

Sixth-placed Town rued missed chances after crumbling in the late stages on a pitch with standing water in both areas.

Tom Crump and debutant John Ditchburn went close, Will Lloyd threatened from distance and makeshift forward Craig Kitchener stung the keeper’s hands several times.

But third-placed RSG went ahead with their first real attack on 25 minutes before Gashi fired wide at the other end.

RSG started the second-half well but Town levelled on the hour when Crump found Gashi, who finished well from a tight angle.

Lloyd and James Smith were denied by a double save, Gashi shaved the post and a RGS defender went close to an own goal.

But the hosts’ direct style led to two goals in the last eight minutes to snatch victory.

Third-from-bottom Hanley Swan visit Falcons tomorrow, while Upton have no game.
