UPTON Town moved off the bottom of Cheltenham Association League Division One with a 3-1 win over fifth-placed RSG.

After Star pulled out of the league, Town lost their opening-day victory and were also deducted three points for cancelling a game in September.

But Their new signings settled in well against RSG, and Town crowned a new kit with a welcome league win.

The visitors started with energy and tried to apply early pressure with a strong wind behind them, but were unable to trouble keeper Chris Darby.

After the first 20 minutes, Town settled and played good football at times, but bad luck and poor finishing saw them waste four or five clear chances.

In a quick start to the second half, returning club captain Kristian Richardson scored a diving header from a near-post Tom Crump cross on 55 minutes.

Vytas Jelinskas had a good chance for goal number two, but opted to chest down instead of heading in.

RSG tried to get back into the game, and Darby made a great save from close range.

Player-manager Simon Craddock made changes, and the first saw Sam Passey, also returning from injury, beat his man to go through and net.

It was 3-0 soon after as Tom Morris latched onto a loose ball before neatly finishing.

Complacency crept in at the end of a comfortable second period as RSG scored following sloppy play at the back on 85 minutes.
