HEREFORDSHIRE Council have confirmed they attempted to take possession of Hereford United's Edgar Street ground and their related land last night.
This, the council said, was done through peaceful re-entry for breach of three leases due to non-payment of rent.
However, officers were unable to enter the premises as they were occupied by a club representative.
Therefore, the council will now take legal action to gain possession.
"We had previously not pursued this course of action, as when we joined the winding-up petition on September 15, our insolvency advisors suggested it was highly likely the club would be wound up on October 20," said a council spokesman.
"However, in light of the further six-week adjournment, we have decided to use other legal actions available to us as landlord."
