MANAGER Jon Taylor says some players at Hereford United believe “they are better than they actually are”.

The Bulls head to Histon tomorrow (kick-off 3pm) with only one Southern League Premier Division win to their name from seven matches.

Last Saturday they were thumped 5-2 at home by fellow strugglers Burnham, prompting Taylor to label them “not good enough”.

Histon, relegated from Conference North last season, are one of only three teams to have made a worse start to the campaign than Hereford, with the Cambridgeshire outfit yet to win a game.

Taylor said: “We just have to galvanise the team and it’s back to the drawing board.

“I’ll back every player in the club to the hilt but some of them seem to think they are better than they actually are. When they just go through the motions for me, it’s just not good enough.”

A Melchi Williamson own goal and Obi Onyeike’s late consolation was all Hereford had to show for their efforts at Edgar Street against Burnham.

“The final ball and the final execution were not good enough even though for long periods we played well,” Taylor said.

“We had a couple of chances in the first-half that we should have capitalised on but there are areas in which we are just not good enough.

“Our back four were poor and we just don’t seem to see the danger early enough.”

Hereford have not used the same team for two games running and winger Javia Roberts said: “Every match we have a different squad and a different starting 11 so no-one gets used to playing together.”
